Do You Know Jesus?

Before we jump into Next Steps, do you know Jesus? Ever wonder what it looks like to call yourself a Christian? It's not nearly as complicated as you might think.

  • What’s your opinion about Jesus?

You probably have an opinion about Jesus. Maybe you think He’s a great teacher or a prophet. Maybe you think He didn’t exist at all. Whatever you believe, we can probably agree that Jesus changed things. We believe He wants to change you too, and that he’s paved the way back to God for you. Jesus himself said:

I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. (John14:6)

No matter who you are, what you’ve done, no matter where you were born or the color of your skin, Jesus is the way for you to have a relationship with God. Everybody’s invited. Everybody’s included. Everybody’s important. If you think you’re an exception to the rule, you’re wrong. Jesus loves you. Yes... you.

  • How do you actually become a Christian?

You just have to take a few simple steps. Look at what the scriptures say:

Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scripture said. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,‘ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

That’s it. Confess with your mouth you faith in Jesus who died for your sins. Believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord... that God raised him from the dead, and your sins are forgiven and your relationship with God is begun. Do that, and you’re a Christian.

  • But you’re probably thinking, “Don’t I have to be a better person first?”

No, you don’t. You don’t change in order to gain God’s love, you change because you’ve experienced his love.

When you trust Jesus as your Savior, you walk into the fullness of God’s love. Gradually, over time, God’s love changes you as you follow Jesus. You change because you’re loved, not in order to be loved. Through His death on the cross, and then coming back from the dead, Jesus took all of your wrong and gave you all of His right. If you believe that and commit to following Him, your life will never be the same. It’s as simple as repenting of your sin, declaring you want to follow Jesus, and believing He is who He says He is. Believing in Jesus is the first step on the greatest journey of your life. You haven’t finished the race—you’ve just gotten started.

Next Steps

Everyone Wondering what your next step is? We’d love to help you take a step to grow toward faith or grow in faith.

  • Pray & Read Your Bible

So you want to get to know God. But how? Great question. Start praying (talk to God and approach him in Jesus’ name... God hears you... really!). But prayer really comes alive when you pair it with reading your Bible.

You can’t have a close relationship with someone you never talk to. It’s impossible. God’s word—the Bible—is the primary way He speaks to us. And it’s the absolute best way to discover how to follow Jesus on a daily basis. If you want to know more about God and His promises, reading the Bible is your next step.

You can download the YouVersion bible app for free for your phone or tablet. Then start reading. 10 minutes a day. We suggest starting with The Gospel of John and then reading Romans.

  • Gather for Worship

We believe you discover God through worship. Join us on Sunday mornings for worship, community, and a message from the Word.

  • Get Baptized

A baptism at Fort Caroline is one of the most exciting things we do here. And we'd love for you to be a part of it! Getting baptized is a symbolic representation of dying to your old life and being raised to a new life in Christ. If you've made the decision to follow Jesus, this is your next step. Even if you were baptized as an infant, we’ll baptize you again because this time it’s your choice.

  • Join a Serve Team

One of the best ways to grow your faith is to get involved. We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for you to try out - We call these Serve Teams. Many people at Fort Caroline volunteer to serve kids, greet guests, run production, and many other things to make our ministry come alive. There's room for everyone. Even if you're not sure about Christianity yet, we've got a place for you to serve. We think by serving, you'll grow. Join the mission and join a Serve Team today.

  • Join a Small Group

Life is better together. We grow relationally and spiritually when we open ourselves up and invest in the lives of others. In times like these, it's more important than ever to be connected with others. Our goal is that anyone who comes to our church has the ability to join in a community and grow together in Jesus. We have a variety of Small Groups that meet on-campus or off-campus.

  • Give Generously

Whether you want to give to the church regularly, consistently, or you want to make a one-time gift, we'll make it easy for you. When you give, you help create a church that unchurched people love to attend and lead people to into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • Become a Member

Fort Caroline Baptist Church is open to everyone no matter where you are on your spiritual journey. But perhaps you are ready to partner with our church through formal membership. Church membership opens up greater opportunities for church leadership, gives you a voice in the major decisions of the church, and gives you a deeper level of Christian commitment.
